History
University of was established on September 25, 1962, based on the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education and Science No. 123 dated September 20, 1963 which came into effect on October 1, 1962. At that time, the university had two faculties, namely: the Faculty of Commerce and State Administration and the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. In 1981, the Non-Degree Faculty of Technology (FNGT) was also opened with the Department of Agricultural Extension and Civil Engineering, which was the forerunner of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Engineering. Two years later, the Faculty of Teacher Training and the Faculty of Education were combined into the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. In 1991, FNGT was closed and the Faculty of Agriculture was opened and finally in 1994 the seventh faculty was established, namely the Faculty of Engineering. Diploma III Mechanical Engineering study program was confirmed by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 378/DIKTI/Kep/2000 and the implementation of the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Program based on the Permit of the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 4020/D/T/2007. In order to develop itself in accordance with the demands of society, the existence of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program was upgraded to the Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau with the Letter of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia No. 208/D/T/2009 dated February 16, 2009, and further stipulated by the Decree of the Rector of the University of Riau No. 77/H19/AK/2009 on February 26, 2009. In 2020, the Master of Mechanical Engineering Program was established.
